The value of Left Field

We tend to seek out information that reinforces what we already believe.

We need to head out into left field sometimes and challenge our thought process.

Political bloggers will read blogs that agree with their theories, and reinforce their sense of rightness about their beliefs. With RSS you can select input to only your world view.

Liberals watch CNN, conservatives watch Fox; for these there is no learning - just reinforcement.

Sometimes we are wrong.

Often I am wrong.

News that is sound bites of your views is not news.

Try something different, expand and open your mind.

Read a book that is not in your field, that does not share all of your values, start to experience a larger life.
