Enjoy life, enjoy your work

.

On a prior post I talked about the value of persistence.

A guest comment on that post by Beau suggested:

"I agree that persistence and determination are necessary attributes for success, but it sure helps to love what you are doing ."

That is a wonderful comment.

Without joy, success has no value.

Pursuit of the trinkets of success, - cars, houses, travel and such is not enough of a reward on their own.

Pursue life.

Don't anchor in things, enjoy them yes, but in the end they are just things.

Anchor in relationships.

There you will find enduring joy.

.

Definitions

.

A month or two ago I gave a definition of the terms that apply to dreampower; Terms like dreampower itself, wishweb, and substantial wealth.

It seems time to expand the library of definitions a bit. I'll take these from my three other blogs:

Junior Partner Ministries Virtual Church

The Tsunami Hitchhiker &

Bastiat Free University blog

The first definition:

Netcohort: A possible shape of future organizational relationships in a network society. As part of the netcohort you will retain your integrity, stay mobile, flexible, and open to new ideas.

Christian: This is not a political party. This is a relationship with God based on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Money Management: Something you need to learn how to do for yourself.

Free University: free church, free Speech: free is an indication of not being controlled by government.

These are enough for now, perhaps more will follow latter.

Spring is Coming

.

Life is seldom life in the zone.

Most of the time what keeps us going is
determination.

That is dreampower. You put your head down, - you know that at one clear moment of time you decided to do this for you, - and you do what needs to be done.

It is not always easy, if it were easy any lazy slob could do it.

To keep going you need to have followed the process to assure yourself that this is important.

Dream wonderful dreams.

Hone your dreams into goals that grab your heart and drag you toward your desires, - your dreams.

Make those goals real in time, draw a picture of what attainment will look like, put a note under the picture of when you will attain that goal. Add how you plan to attain the goal, list the methods you plan to use.

Put it on your calendar.

Copy that picture and put it places you will notice.

"I will have my own $million dollar business selling widgets on the net using a combination of blogs and websites by December first of 2008. I will start a blog every 3 months until I have 5, I will post to each daily. I will have two web sites, I will start one tomorrow .....

You get the idea.

Write down why the goal is important, what it will do, what you will be able to achieve and enjoy once you are there.

Only change your goals after a period of reflection, during a period when things are going well and you feel great. When things are not all sunshine and birds singing, - put your head down and work.

You may decide in one of those periods of clarity that you need three websites, but only three blogs. Don't make that decision on the day you are scheduled to start your fourth blog. If the choice is that day, start the blog no matter what.

You can prune, you can change, modify, increase or decrease the goal.

The rules,
Your Rules, are to only change the goals in season's of mental spring.

autumn will come, winter will follow; - Just put your head down and keep working. When spring arrives take a break for refreshment, renewal, and a good hard look at goals.

dreampower helps you last to spring.

It is not easy to get there, but the pleasures you will find are worth the effort.

Put your head down and dig in.

Enjoy life.

Reach your goals.

Make new goals.

The value of me

.

A quick word for selfishness, and its value.

There are wonderful selfless people that do great and wonderful works of sacrifice. We admire their dedication even if most of us have no desire to do the same.

As a result many want to give, but in a more restrained order of sacrifice; - they usually do small works and give small amounts; this is a very good thing also.

A third group talks about sacrifice and gives. But they give other people's money and time, all they do is ask for praise, and support. Most of these people work through politics. They can get the government to take from people that produce, both their time and money, and use it to support a bureaucracy then give the bit that is left away. This is theft, of the credit for working, earning, giving, and caring.

The fourth group are the producers. Those folks that go about their business on a day by day basis. They work jobs, create businesses, teach others, and help others. When they give it is direct, to a need or to a charity they trust that addresses a need. These are also the people that group three steals from.

Some call the fourth group selfish, for they take care of their families and their future first. They are also the ones that have more than half of their earnings taken for other's projects, in taxes, fees, penalties, and the added expense of ridiculous regulations.

If the fourth group, the selfish, did not exist; there would be no one to steal from. In their desire to produce, they support the rest of the world. If not for them and their kind, we would still be living in caves, - starving and dying.

Let's hear a loud cheer for the selfish. You can be one also.

Be a success.

Do it for yourself and those you love.

Everyone will benefit.

But you most of all.

"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

.

Preparation for Sudden Change

.

Sometimes the unexpected happens.

Sometimes it is severe.

Like the Boy Scouts say, - be prepared.

For yourself; - have a plan and an emergency kit wherever you spend a lot of time. In your car, at the office or store, at your second home if you have one.

For your family; - practice or at least talk about home emergencies. Plan for them and have a survival kit. Have an out of state or out of country contact everyone in the effected area can call with a code-4 report.

For your business; - have a plan if nothing in the home office will be available, ever. Plan for the employees and have supplies available. Have dispersed back up systems to pick up the load if computers and shipping are not available, or if data has been destroyed. Look at your insurance.

Economists exist in a fairy tale world where things change in a smooth linear fashion.

Life is not linear
.

Be prepared when life goes parabolic. Sudden and wonderful or sudden and catastrophic events occur far more frequently then our minds and most models would predict.

Step away from the punch bowl.

Look at all the ways of escape and survival if things go horribly wrong. Take a guess at what could happen and prepare for it. The events themselves will probably be different than expected.

Expect it.

Pleasures

.

Sure, pleasures can be short.

But they can be intense also.

The birthday is over, the family had scattered to their respective nests.

All is well in dreampower land.

Allan

May your pleasures be great, and may your search for a more enduring joy be rewarded.

Seek, and Ye shall find.

Knock, and the door shall be opened.

Ask, that your joy may be full.

.

A Brighter Day

.

Hey, it's my Birthday.

To celebrate I threw down a rant on the Tsunami Hitchhiker.

That got the ol' juices running.

Today will be mainly a day of family and relaxation.

We all need it.

Time to re-charge;

best to everyone.

Allan

Lighter than Air

.

Sometimes I feel like that.

Everything I encounter just drifts along below me as I sail the air currents to my destination.

I guess that is called being in the zone.

Do you know the difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut?

Today it was tough to get out of bed. Moving felt like I was swimming through oatmeal.

But guess what.

One foot in front of the other and I can walk. The projects laid out in front of me got done. - Maybe not with elan, but they got done.

Sometimes that's what it takes, moving stubbornly toward your goals. I'll have to clean up any mistakes I've made tomorrow morning. I may very well have made more than usual.

The difference between a good and bad haircut? - two weeks.

Now I'm done.

Good night.

Types of people

.

I once had a speech about types of people. I used different studies and psychological tools that talked about 16 types of people, and 15 types of people etc. I worked it down to where there is just one type of person, us.

We are all people, just that, people.

There is only one thing God is taking our of this world, - people.

That means what we do for others and ourselves is all that really matters.

Whether your political beliefs follow classic liberal ideals that working for your own good benefits all, or modern liberal thought that your sacrifice is needed, it is important that people are the focus of your actions.

There is just one type of person, US.

.

Let The Sun Shine In

.

This actually has two meanings. The first is to avoid cabin fever. The second is to subject your projects to review.

Sometimes all it takes to keep us at the computer is a cup of coffee and a pb&j sandwich. We can work well past our peak productivity in both hours per day or days per month.

Enough of being a mushroom, go out, get out, get some sun shine.

Our projects need some sunshine too. Sometimes I have asked someone to review my project and said I wasn't sure whether to do A or B; and had them suggest a C I hadn't thought about. We can get so focused we get tunnel vision.

Once in a while someone will say something that will make me step back and re-think the whole project. That is a good thing; far better sooner than latter.

Let the sun shine in.

Our Own Reflection Hides The View Through The Window

.

"Our own reflection hides the view through the window." - Allan Wallace

I am not a great writer, - but you already know that.

Every once in a while I pop a phrase that resonates -
for me. That view thingee is such a phrase. As a result you will see the phrase sown throughout my sites.

It carries depth of meanings to me.

I'm sure that is not true for the majority of readers.

To most readers the quote is just a confusing piece of self aggrandizment. - Perhaps that is all it is.

I like it, and I can't see why everyone doesn't.

But that is part of its meaning,

hmmm.

My own reflection blocks the view through the window.

Allan

I lost track of where I got the Einstein & the chalkboard piece, leave a comment if you know so I can give credit.

Cool, I found it on Google. Do your own Einstein at the chalkboard thingee.

.

Who Are Your Priorities?

.

Not what, but who are your priorities?

It is easy to dream of where we want to be and when we want to be there. - That is the basis of goals.

We can magnify that and decide what we want to be.

A bit more thought and we might understand who we want to be.

Just be sure to remember the who that are in your life. Life at its most rewarding is about relationships. A sunset shared on a beach can hold much more satisfaction than a great meal served alone in a mansion.

God is only taking one thing out of this world, - that is people.

As you set your goals, have part of that dream revolve around people. People are the anchors, all else will pass.

Enjoy life.

Reach for the stars.

Take love to the stars with you.

Good Enough, Isn't

.

Just good enough isn't close.

Think of your favorite restaurant, I'll bet the food isn't just good enough.

The places we chose to go back to add a bit extra, something that sets them apart.

Seth Godin has a great piece on his blog about quality, read it here.

I have a bit longer piece on one of my sites, a classic written in 1899, read it here.

The key is to give more than is expected, - put in the extra effort.

It will keep them coming back, - just like it does for you.

Allan

.

A Small Piece of Wisdom

.

Most of you know that I feel C. F. Bastiat has valuable insights for us. Bastiat thought and wrote in a period similar to ours.

In Bastiat's day the agricultural economy was shrinking, as the industrial age gained in strength.
In our day the industrial age is the one shrinking, as the new miniaturization and information age dawns. - The future will be far different than we imagine.

This web site is about achievement. To be ready for the future you must be willing and able to adapt. You must also realize that what worked yesterday may not work next week.

Some things last. Read this short article (a PDF download) by Bastiat called The Law, It will in less than 25 pages show you a way to understand economics, politics, and group dynamics of all sorts.

If you find this as interesting as I do, take a look at the College of Human Interaction at Bastiat Free University. You can register for free, monitor classes for free.

But hit that link for The Law regardless. - It is a short read that may impact the rest of your life.

Power in Persistence

.

Time to hit you with some quotes. The first is one I've heard credited to everyone from Mark Twain to Abe Lincoln.

"Press on: Nothing in the world can take the place of perseverance. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent." - Calvin Coolidge

"It sometimes seems that intense desire creates not only its own opportunities, but its own talents. " - Eric Hoffer

"What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters, compared to what lies within us" - Ralph Waldo Emerson

"What you can do, or dream you can, begin it; Boldness has genius, power and magic in it." - Goethe

Live Your Passion

.

No "life of quiet desperation."

"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than exposure". - Helen Keller

We are here for just a short time.

My kids say something when they are about to head off on an adventure, I think they got it from a movie, or me.

"Everyone dies, but not everyone lives."

As a parent that doesn't make me comfortable, but it does reflect realty.

The kids have chosen to live life large, It is a good choice, made with a knowledge of the risks.

My youngest son is working on his boat. It is a Cal 25, a solid built excellent sailor; - so is he. It has the latest in navigation aids and safety equipment. But it is a 26 foot bubble that by nature is more comfortable at the bottom of the sea than bobbling on top of it. Matt has every intention of sailing her around the world. If determination is all that is required, he has plenty.

I've told Matt about the guy that intended to sail around the world, - he got as far as Hawaii before he met a gal and settled down. Matt just smiles.

I may sail the first leg or two with him, this should be fun. In 40 years he will not look back and say, "If only."

He knows he may die, you can die walking out to the mailbox. He will do what he can to mitigate risk; but life must come before fear.

Life is risk, don't try to avoid risk, try to manage risk.

Is there something you relly want to do?

Your lifespan on Earth is only 70 or so years, with a chunk of it used growing up or growing old. If you have a passion pursue it.

Live your Passion.

Start Now.

Set Your Passion Free

.
I just read a short and excellent article on the state of learning.

Education has become a trial of patience, hoping to achieve a piece of sheepskin.

Learning has been forgotten.

There is great news.

It's ok to learn just because you want to know.

You know what you are passionate about, pursue it. Learn all you can about it, read widely. Explore those areas that touch on your passions, if you love psychology, read some investigative history and mechanical economics.

Challenge your knowledge, read things with which you disagree, or which you don't understand.

It's ok to learn just because you want to know.

Rediscover the pleasures of self directed learning.

The Goal of Who You Are

.

Success in not only about what you have acquired.

Success is also about who you are.

If all of your goals are material, you will experience a let down after you acquire each one. You can motivate yourself with goals for a bigger house or a special vacation trip, but the motivation stops as soon as you reach the goal.

If this is your technique to get strong results, it will work. Just be sure to always have another goal lined up as you pass the first one.

What you are will produce far more lasting results. Integrity, adaptability, pleasure at learning, communication skills; each of these you add to your character will stay with you the rest of your life.

To those goals of things to acquire, add the goals of what type of person you want to become.

Allan

.

Success For Me

.

We have been told anyone can succeed.

The truth is few will reach great success in the eyes of the world.

What matters is - will you reach success in your own eyes?

To do that you will have to define success in a way that you will know it when you get there.

I heard a story somewhere about a fisherman named Arturo.

Arturo came into the dock early one morning with his small boat full of lovely fish, one for himself, others to sell. Bill, an Ivy League MBA on vacation, saw Arturo return to the dock while all the other fishermen were still out with almost empty boats.

Bill asked about Arturo, everyone agreed that Arturo was the best fisherman on the coast.

Bill walked down to Arturo and asked how he spent his days. Arturo said he fished a bit in the morning, went home to spend some time with his wife and play with his kids, then in the evening Arturo met his friends at the local restaurant for songs and games.

Bill got excited and proposed a partnership. Together they would build a fleet of ships that would benefit from Arturo's knowledge. They would Move to a big city, and later run offices and fleets around the world.

Arturo asked about the future beyond the world wide ventures. Bill expounded on the glories of the great cities and high society, finishing with the statement that when Arturo decided he was ready to retire he could go anywhere and do anything he wanted. Bill asked what Arturo would do with such a fine retirement.

Arturo replied, " I would fish a bit in the morning, go home to spend some time with my wife and play with the kids, then in the evening I would meet my friends at the local restaurant for songs and games."

And Arturo walked away.

The Other Way to success

.

We have been told how to succeed.

What we have really been told is how someone else succeeded, in the past.

The world is changing rapidly. What created success in the recent past may not be what succeeds in the future.

We are leaving the industrial age behind. The institutions created by large economies of scale are deflating as individuals are empowered to achieve on their own. A French fellow, C. F. Bastiat; wrote of a similar transitional period in the mid 1800s.

For those raised in the 1940s and 50s a degree was a meal ticket. Due to the success of those few that had degrees, society is now creating hoards of degreed graduates. As institutions downsize, rightsize, outsize, and perhaps capsize; there may be a surplus of degrees chasing decreasing rewards.

A diploma is a self marketing tool. It will probably remain useful for at least the next ten or twenty years.

What you will probably need more in the future is useful knowledge. Pursue learning more than a degree. Invest in yourself, learn all you can about what ignites your passions.

The future will belong to those that possess knowledge, adaptability, integrity, and passion.

Allan

Enjoy the Price of Success

.

The purpose of this blog is to help my one of my kiddos.

Lydia is going to start a business with her friend Jenny.

They both are doing well already, working at jobs they had wanted to do and enjoying life.

But they have found something they can do together. - And a business that may give them freedom to live their lives as they wish.

Any worthwhile project will take time: time to create - time to perform - time until results.

And finally if the time is well spent, - they will acquire time to enjoy the fruits of their efforts.

You are welcome to come along for the ride.

There will be work, it will take time, there should be ample rewards for those that stay the course.

"You enjoy the price of success."

.

What is required to get my dreams?

.

This is a question best answered by you. I will put down some questions.

You can add some questions of your own in the comments. Your insights may help others.

You can also add some answers in the comments. If you publicly state your goals it helps your commitment to achieving them.

What do I need to create - to have my dreams?

What do I need to learn - to create my dreams?

Do my dreams require a specific diploma or certificate, or is specific knowledge enough?

What action do I need to do now?

What sort of person do I want to be? - You can start this one right now.

Get started.

Dream

Plan

Achieve

Zig Ziglar has said, "You can have anything you want out of life, if you help enough people get what they want out of life."

Life Happens

.

All this stuff about dreams and goals is great, - but what about reality?

The reality is, life can really suck.

The reality is you may not get a chance to pursue your ultimate personal goals.

The reality is I don't have answers to your life.

I'll give you referrals instead.

For big questions accept Jesus and learn to pray.

From somebody that probably had it much worse, and much longer than most, I'll quote Helen Keller.

"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than exposure". - Helen Keller

.

Dream Big!

.

We are told to keep our goals reasonable. - Don't do it.

It is better to shoot for the stars and just make the moon, than shoot for a menial job as a wage slave and achieve it. It is better to start your own business than build a business for someone else.

Goals are built from dreams, so let your dreams run wild.

Dwell on your dreams a while, embellish them. It is very popular with the young to want to rule the world. If they think about the attendant responsibilities, they may choose to opt for some of the perks instead. That is the start of forming goals from your dreams.

If you are afraid to dream extravagantly, you will not discover the full extent of your wishes, or their costs. With celebrity comes lack of privacy and a lack of freedom of movement. Perhaps being a famous author would be more to your liking than being a movie star.

Dream big, and find out what it is that makes that dream appealing to you. Take those appealing parts and craft them into your goals.

Dream Big.

Set wonderful goals.

Develop plans to achieve.

Write down your goals and review them frequently.

Act.

Serendipity: making fortunate discoveries by accident.

.
Serendipity

Life is like that.

If nothing seems to be working, start moving.

A plan will keep you moving.

One of the values of a plan is that your following of a plan may lead you to serendipity; something new and unexpected.

Like a wonderful trump card on lighting.

Of course there is the funny take to balance the science above, namely the dark sucker conspiracy.

Whether you like your science straight up or on the rocks; always keep moving.

Dream

Set goals

Plan

Act

The act may bring results you never dreamed of.

That is Serendipity

It Is A Beautiful Day, - somewhere

.

The sun is shining, the birds are singing - somewhere.

Just not here, not now.

Some days are so beautiful it is impossible not to be out enjoying them. Plan enough flexibility into your life to enjoy life.

Some days are so impossible it is hard to find beauty in them and keep moving.

Beauty will return, seek it out - and use your plans to keep yourself moving. There are days your goals may be the only motivating beauty you can find, pursue them.

Life is of course far more than dreams, goals, and plans to reach the goals. Seek out those values and relationships that will endure storms, even when your plans need to be rewritten.

Financial goals and their potential physical manifestations can inspire, but your roots need to be in concomitant relationships, - not things.

God is only taking one thing off this world, people.

Relationships are real; - all else is ephemera.

Root in relationships. Beauty may always be found there.

dreampower and Freedom

The dreams you linger in are ones that are personal. - Dreams that reflect a freedom to do and be whatever you desire.

As we move our thoughts from dreams to goals, reality restricts our freedoms. You can no longer fly to your friends house in your private plane. You have no plane, and the authorities would not let you land in your friends back yard.

If your dreams are strong enough you may develop goals that will allow you to earn your plane with the proper training to fly it. You of course will still have to deal with the authorities.

Whatever country you live in, there will be restrictions. If your dreams are important enough, you may have to move to a country where your goals are acceptable, and possible.

Expand your vision, consider opportunities and methods others will never consider. Be a citizen of the world, select your location for your benefit.

Once you are a success on your own terms you will have plenty of opportunity to help others.

"The risks and rewards for you from creative entrepreneurship are greater, and of far more value to society, than illusions of security that enslave a human cog in a social machine." - Allan Wallace

.

It Starts Now

The past is just that, past.

Right now you have a chance to change your future.

If you are assaulted by everything that is happening to you, escape, even if just for a moment.

Consider your options, think of the consequences of your next action, plan just a bit.

If you have more time, take advantage by thinking further ahead.

Are the things you committed too in the past still important to you?

What would you rather accomplish than what your plans now dictate?

It is time to take some time.

Do what you know will relax or energize you; follow that with time to develop a fresh perspective.

dream,
plan,
act

Allan

Commit to yourself

.

Commitments

Dreams and goals are important.

But always remember they are your dreams and goals. - They belong to you, not you to them.

Your commitments to the temporal are by nature conditional.

Retaining the flexability to refresh your batteries or change your goals is smart and reasonable.

Don't change your goals with each shift of the wind, but wisdom would dictate the freedom to run for a storm cellar in a tornado.

Your life is your own.

Think about what defines success for you, not what defines success to society.

Dream.

Develop your dreams into goals.

Develop the plans to achieve your goals.

But,

leave room in your plans for you.

Schedule Yourself In - Ink Not Pencil

.

Take time for yourself.

At least once a month schedule yourself some quiet time.

Take a day or two, head off to someplace quiet where you will not be disturbed, and think about your life.

I find it handy to have several things along, a pen, a legal pad, a short agenda, and for myself a Bible.

The first step is to review your agenda and add to it all the things that are running circles in your mind. After a while you will find most of the ideas repeating.

A second step would be to start fleshing out the ideas and problems you encountered in the first step.

Stop, think, take a walk, write some notes, think some more.

The goal is to see what you have been worrying about written down. - There may only be 10 or 20 main ideas and problems, but you were never able to concentrate on one before another intruded.

Once they are all down, you will be able to see what are priorities for your goals, and which are just immediate concerns.

Now spend time thinking about just one of the priorities. If you come to a block, think about one of the other priorities.

Concentration is a powerful tool, it will amplify your dreampower.

Allan

.

Accomplish Great Things

.

There are three ways I see the world can go from here, financially.

  • We can just keep muddling through, slowly declining.

  • We may soon hit a big recession or a greater depression.

  • We may explode in a parabolic curve upwards as the information and miniaturization age replaces the industrial age.

But even inevitable is not the same as immediate. - Bastiat Free University is built with the anticipation of the big recession or worse, followed by the parabolic shot up. - That is what we believe is the most likely scenario.

It will be a time to accomplish great things.

Fiat money backed by a politician's promise rather than an asset has, for the history of the world, always reverted to the value of that promise. Zero.

Even the US$ has lost over 90% of its value since the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913. The Federal Reserve was created to manipulate money. International agreements to define money politically rather than as a reflection of a commodity have had the world in cash value turmoil since.

Right now it is cheaper to build a company in most industries than buy one. A small well placed company may survive and build value during lean times, and explode in value as the world emerges.

For now, things are more valuable than cash. - Debt is dangerous.

If the world goes straight to the parabola, unlikely but possible, business should be very good.

For your best business potential, start now. - start dreaming today of how to place and grow your business. Tomorrow build that dream into a goal with specifics and a time frame. The next day do research investigating where, how, and what to call your new business.

Then see the prior post.

Allan

dreampower

.

Start today.

There is a block to action called the paralysis of analysis.

You will never have all the information.

If you were to have all the information it would be too late to act.

If you have a dream and have shaped the dream into a goal, act.

Take that first step, and another, then another.

Once you have the basics - you will learn more by doing than by studying; act, then study.

If you want to start a business, don't wait till you have a diploma. Start the business today, start to learn how to grow the business tomorrow. You can get a degree later, if you still want one.

Life won't wait - start now.

The value of Left Field

.

We tend to seek out information that reinforces what we already believe.

We need to head out into left field sometimes and challenge our thought process.

Political bloggers will read blogs that agree with their theories, and reinforce their sense of rightness about their beliefs. With RSS you can select input to only your world view.

Liberals watch CNN, conservatives watch Fox; for these there is no learning - just reinforcement.

Sometimes we are wrong.

Often I am wrong.

News that is sound bites of your views is not news.

Try something different, expand and open your mind.

Read a book that is not in your field, that does not share all of your values, start to experience a larger life.

Allan

.

Simple Choice Close

.

One basic sales close is to suggest two choices, one complex the other easy. Many times, if the client is ready to buy, the client will accept the easy choice. This helps them avoid the inner debate about dozens of issues and make one selection.

In the spirit of the above, we will offer many different entry pages to Bastiat Free University. The heavy but fact filled one you just saw, a short BFU summation, and a flashy educational intro.

We will start a major remake of the site in January of 2006, but will retain these pages.

I figure I will use the summation page for most incoming links, it is easy and straight forward.

So far the students like the educational intro. It can also be easily skipped if the reader is impatient.

The heavy fact filled one has already been cut in half, with the extra thrown onto the Bastiat Free University philosophy page. It needs to stay on the diet and may be cut up again.

Another page used for entry is about the future of learning, Revive Renaissance Education.

The true target of all these pages is an informed click to the no-cost registration page.

"When you add that link to dreampower would you like to chose a BFU page to link to also?"

Here are two links, dreampower and BFU Summation.

Embrace Change

.

A rut is just a casket with the ends kicked out.

It is so easy to do today what you did yesterday - and the day before.

If you are already uber-successful you probably already embrace change.

If you want to be uber-successful - to embrace change you must first initiate change.

Change takes some getting used to, and it can be uncomfortable.

Start in areas you know are a rut, but you would normally stay there. An example would be to drive a different route to work. You will notice new things, think new thoughts, perhaps even develop new ideas into something useful.

Other changes can be to eat different foods, visit with different people, read a new type of book, take a class in another discipline.

Change your tunnel vision developed by living in a rut.

Crawl out of the rut, observe a different world, live a different life.

)( Work Your Dream

.

You know what you want.

You have defined and expanded your dream into a time specific goal.

You want to be super successful.

The super successful do the work required for success.

They talk to the people they want to avoid and they do the tasks they would rather put off for another day.

It is very easy to just do those simple tasks that take up time, but do nothing toward your goals.

)(

That is the key to success, just )(

If you are wondering what the heck )( is, I guess I'll have to tell you.

Get belly to belly with 50 people that can buy your product today; get )( with 50 people and talk. Find out how your product can help them. Some big ticket items may require just 10 people, small ticket you may need to talk to 200 today.

A good businessman or salesman is not a good talker. No, they ask good questions and they listen.

Once you know what your potential client wants, you will know if you can help him.

If you can't help him, find another belly.

Get belly to belly with 50 people today.

Today's cure for OOPs, Firefox

.

The last post was on my errors. I just discovered one I don't have time to change right now.

I also do a blog called the Tsunami Hitchhiker. I was playing with the template and everything looked cool. I was just checking my work on another site using different browsers, and found the Hitchhiker only looks acceptable in Mozilla Firefox. MS Internet Explorer hates it.

When I did the changes I just checked it real quick with my normal Firefox that I use all the time.

There is a Get Firefox button on the side. Try it, it is faster and safer, and the internet will look like it was written. There is no cost for Firefox, it is open source. I get nothing for sending you, you just get a much better browser.

The Hitchhiker will be back to normal in a day or two, sooner for you if you switch to Firefox today.

Best,

Allan

We Will Make Mistakes

.

Guess what, I am human.

I posted to some guys web site with a stupid note, and re-read it latter, and saw it was stupid.

OOPs.

Hey, that is not the first or last error I will make.

There are two ways to stop these sorts of errors. I can do nothing, or I can die.

By choice I am picking up speed instead. Yes I will make more stupid errors, but I will also accomplish more. That to me is a fair trade off.

If you see one of my errors, let me know. I may correct it, or I may let it stand as proof that I am human.

You can quote me on this:

"I err, therefore I am." - Allan R. Wallace

"Don't Let Your Schooling Interfere With Your Education"

.

Mark Twain said that.

If you have dropped out of school, your world is not ended. You can still succeed beyond what you imagined. The fact that you are reading this shows your desire to win, we will help you do just that.

A college degree is also not too big an encumbrance to overcome, you will just have to unlearn some things before you can start.

Right now you are engaged in self directed learning, and enjoying it.

A degree is a self marketing tool to procure a bureaucratic job. The key for you to succeed is not a diploma, but to develop a love of learning. Next you must combine your knowledge with action and build the future you want.

Think about what you love to do. There is a way to make money, and enjoy life, if you will pursue that passion. Study everything you can find about that passion, become an expert. Lend that knowledge out and share it with the community.

You can succeed, you are in school now, and you will be for the rest of your life. Acquire knowledge, do it for yourself this time.

dreampower & the wishweb

.

dreampower: The authority your subconscious exerts over your conscious actions. Developing and reviewing your dreams and goals heightens your awareness to paths that will achieve them.

There are dozens and perhaps hundreds of items within your sight, but you only notice a few. Have you wondered at the selection process? Your subconscious picks and chooses what you will notice, based on what you have noticed before.

If you concentrate on noticing something new, after five or six periods of this training it will become "natural" to notice it. Once dreams and goals are part of your subconscious, it will be natural to consciously notice ways to achieve them.

That is why you dream, and then write down, and then repeat your goals, again, and again.

Wishweb: The decision you make to expend the effort required - to have a chance of reaching your goals - and living your dreams.

If your goal is to be financially free in 2 years it will take more than just noticing opportunities; you will have to commit to achieving your goal. You may commit and then change plans, but your commitment must not slack.

In motion toward your dream you will discover new methods of finding the success you seek. Consider not the effort already expended, but the end result if you start over. Do not dilute your effectiveness by tackling too many ventures - instead focus on the one most likely to succeed.

There are pleasures to be found in focused commitment to creativity and action.

Comments back on

.

Blogger added a character check box to slow the auto spammers, (look under comments tab in settings) we will give it a try.

This is interesting, I have a problem and apply a solution I don't like. Within a day or two I find a better alternative.

Things have a way of working out.

That is - things have a way of working out - if you keep moving and don't just stop and pout.

Lots to do, see ya soon,

Allan

Why no comments? Why no business ops?

.

Good Questions.

I have 4 blogs, I probably get 3 spam for every real comment. I love real comments, but to save time there is no space for them here. Click over to BFU and you will find an email address at the bottom of the page, I'd love to hear from you.

We have talked about financial freedom, but so far I have not given you any money making ideas. Don't pursue this one just out of curiosity; like all true luck it comes disguised as work. It will take time and effort to make money this way, but it has been an earner for one of our charities. Perhaps you will even decide you enjoy the hunt.

There are three levels to participate, as a webmaster, a business affiliate, a web site owner or any combination of the above. Becoming an affiliate is simple and free. We have checked lots of programs, but we have made money with this one, it is worth your consideration.

Risk, A Path To Excellence

.

He who joyfully marches in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice. - Albert Einstein

I don't know if Einstein really said that, I distrust quotes I find on the web. It is easier to sell an idea if you attach a famous name to it. I do however like the Idea and I find it timely.

If you do what everyone else is doing you will be average, and redundant.

If you step out of line you will get some dirty looks and hear some rude comments; but you will have the chance to excel.

Someone said "success is the best revenge."

Don't settle for a life of quiet desperation, strike out on your own and try something new.

"
Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than exposure". - Helen Keller

Life is risk, don't avoid risk, learn to manage risk.

Allan

P.S. If you want to learn how to handle finacial risk - investigate Speculation Rules!

The Speculation Rules website has investment information on finance from stock markets and options to commodities and forex. Starting with the premise that investment is a subset of astute speculation the author offers insights and opinions.

There are so many new ways to consider the allocation of your capital. Discover your personal trading style and learn to trade your own account. Consider becoming a sovereign individual or investigate joining the Netcohort Society. There is a lot of quality investment experience displayed on these pages for you to consider.

You can pay someone to speculate for you, or you can learn to manage risk for yourself. This illustrates one of those Speculation Rules:

No one cares more about your money than you -- unless they plan to use or steal your money.

Discover - Learn - Act

.

Discover - Learn - Act

That is the motto of the Bastiat Free University graduate program.

It is also a call to a different type of education.

The Industrial Age is dying, long live the Information and Miniaturization Age.

This emerging age will require a different mind set for success. You must enjoy learning, it will be a 24 hour a day, all life experience. What will be important in your future is your knowledge, integrity, adaptability, and commitment.

As the huge bureaucracies of the Industrial age dissolve, they will be replaced with fluid networks based on trust. This will be a difficult transition for many, as they expected the skills they learned in government controlled schools to last their entire lives.

Break Free, rediscover the pleasures of self directed learning.

Go back to school - do it for yourself this time.

Allan

.

Capture Your Dreams

.

First you have to dream.

Forget that reasonable stuff, that junk is why you are where you are now.

What would you be happy doing, right now? How could you get paid for it, and still be happy doing it?

What if your life were free from work that you do not enjoy? Write down what you would do in two years if you were financially free?

Read what you wrote, is it specific? Write down some details. Note that you now have a goal and a time frame to acquire it.

Look further out, 5 years and 10 years.

You can get there, but something will have to change, today.

Most businesses require two or more years to build. What will you be doing in two years if you don't start now?

Get started.

Allan

Do it for yourself

.

"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first." - Mark Twain
Opportunity.

Far to often we let immediate problems divert our attention from what can be.

Force yourself to find some private time, head off to the mountains or the beach for a day or two. Just a few minutes is ok if that is all you can afford. Take a pad of paper and write down your thoughts, it may take a while, but you will begin to notice that they repeat.

If ten things are important, they chase themselves around your mind, never letting you concentrate on just one. After a day or two things may start to show some order. Write that down too. Perhaps you can get to the point where you know what is important enough to see it through first.

Seek simplicity, seek order, take a deep breath - act.

dreampower, Financial Freedom, & Substantial Wealth

.

To ease our communications some simple definitions seem appropriate. I will probably upgrade these definitions latter. For now they may be clear as mud - but at least they will cover the ground.

dreampower: The authority your subconscious exerts over your conscious actions. Developing and reviewing your dreams and goals heightens your awareness to paths that will achieve them.

Financial Freedom: having sufficient resources and income that you do not have to do something you don't enjoy - just for money.

Substantial Wealth: sufficient resources so that you do not have to debate the cost of what you want to do, you can just do it.

Wishweb: The decision you make to expend the effort required - to have a chance of reaching your goals - and living your dreams.

Learning: An all day, all life discovery of the pleasures from gaining knowledge that you want to possess.

Allan

.

College Degree Or an Education?

.

Jim Rogers is the first I remember talking about this. Jim is a super successful businessman, and a world class adventurer.

Jim teaches entrepreneurship at the university level, and writes best selling books - when he speaks, listen.

What did Jim say? It was something like "if you want an education, start a business."

I would add, once you start the business, work hard at learning how to improve your business.

I Want To Learn - How To Earn - My Dreams

.

Financial freedom first, substantial wealth latter.

It may take a couple of years of diligent effort to create financial freedom. The real question is what will you be doing in two years if you do not put in the effort?

If you want the next five years to be the same as the last five years, do nothing. If nothing has changed probably nothing will change, for the better.

Start now, the cost is small, the real risk is your time. If you can leverage your time you will expand your future possibilities.
